Philosophy of Work

As an aspiring filmmaker, I seek to create media that transforms people emotionally and to tell stories that illuminate the human experience both domestic and foreign to the average viewer. By doing so, I desire to widen perspectives, build bridges, and craft a global society that is less apprehensive and more accepting of different backgrounds.

My core professional and personal values of creativity, dependability, and service are pillars that support and influence my daily decision-making. My creative acumen and dependability in the service of others has made me someone who delights in taking extra responsibilities and in the opportunities to learn and grow that come with them. In taking conscious efforts to engage with people and offer my assistance I have been able to gain new skills, colleagues, and insights through differing perspectives. Filmmaking has allowed me to pursue niche topics and stories and communicate those distinct perspectives to greater audiences, often while shedding light on situations that inspire others to create changes within themselves or among the world around them. I seek to inspire others to be better global citizens by setting an example of diligent dependability and awe-inspiring creativity in the service of others.

I highly value creativity and the exploration of new and original ideas, particularly through the various mediums of visual storytelling. As one of the oldest forms of communication, narrative remains an unparalleled tool of human interaction; authentically creative productions have the ability to communicate and affirm the human experience with life altering impact.

Creativity means finding valuable messages in unlikely stories and creating representation for obscured and foreign perspectives.

Creative mindsets create new and more efficient ways of accomplishing tasks, often in a proficient and financially conservative manner.

Creativity demands open-mindedness and a willingness to question one’s habits and abilities to allow for new ideas and techniques to flourish.

I believe it is absolutely paramount to promote dependability between oneself and the colleagues one associates with. Cultivating a reputation for reliable craftsmanship in all aspects of my work displays how seriously I regard the trust people place in my work.

Understanding that I depend on people with different skills whom I can learn a lot from and teach a lot to.

Holding even the smallest responsibilities in the highest regard because of my respect for those that may be impacted.

Working as one piece in a collaboration instead of a tier in a hierarchy allows for unheard voices to come forward and nuances to be found, thus raising the value of the production.

My commitment to service has always been a guiding force in both my private and professional life. Putting others' needs before my own and dedicating my time and effort to their betterment is how I create change in the world around me.

I have always believed that life can be measured in the acts that you have done for others and the impact, positive or negative, that you’ve had on others’ lives. For me, my legacy has very little to do with my own experiences so much as it does the experiences that I can share with the people I interact with. Whether in my daily interactions or through the long-term goals that I set for myself, assistance to those in need is very important to me.

Success, to me, is not defined by monetary values, expensive belongings, or superior titles; instead, my singular goal is to create some type of positive emotional resonance with the people that I interact with and within the projects that I produce for. I believe that visual media has the power to alter and influence the mind on both emotional and logistical levels. By communicating through the use of visual storytelling, my intention is to nurture relationships between and blur divisions across demographics of dissimilar experiences. By shedding light on shuttered stories, creators consistently provide platforms for unlikely voices to step forward and demand open-mindedness and acceptance from the engulfing society. I hope to offer the same opportunities, create similar platforms, and demand more globally aware perspectives from those that I both work with and intend to entertain.

The art of entertainment through storytelling is exactly that, an art. It is an arena which values developed creative talents, nuanced criticisms, and innovative solutions; however, it perhaps values experience most of all. While my conversance within this field might still be described amateur, I am determined to absorb a myriad of skill sets beyond my given obligations through curious and radically collaborative engagement with my colleagues, superiors, and even other novice filmmakers. By committing myself to diligent dependability in my service to others and a mindfulness for creative learning opportunities I am able to optimize my growth in the personal and professional ventures that I dedicate my time and energy to.
